The Law Collective was started as a way to formalise the legal advice I have been providing to Cornwall-based businesses and local friends since moving here from Australia in 2010.

The business is offering something different, at better rates than any firm of solicitors in Cornwall (see our FAQ to realise we are not solicitor-haters – there is just a time and a place for a law firm and you don’t always need one).

One major driving force for running a legal consultancy is to allow time for doing the things I love. I chose not to practice law in a big city, having worked at large international law firms for a number of years. Instead, I chose to live in Cornwall where I take time to hang out with family and friends. For this reason, and despite a desperation not to sound too old and grumpy, I made the choice not to use social media. I don’t want to be searching my brain for something witty or poignant to say, or to take photos of my breakfast when I could be working on legal matters for a new client or at the beach with my family or surfboard.

I realise that social media is a great selling tool and I, often, hypocritically, strongly recommend it to friends or colleagues who are setting up a business in Cornwall. Fortunately, I have a small number of clients who I like working with and I only take on matters where I know I can provide quality legal advice and build up a decent working relationship.

If you are interested in meeting up for a coffee to find out if we can help you or your business with legal advice in Cornwall, do get in touch, the old-fashioned way.
